MEET OUR LEADERSHIP

Dan Widmaier, PhD

Chief Executive Officer and Founder

Dan is fascinated by finding the right conditions to grow things. Dan has carefully tended Bolt’s growth since 2009, using his passion and expertise to lead the company through technology development, expansion, and financing. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from UC San Francisco, where his graduate research involved designing genetic circuits to control microbial organelles.

David Breslauer, PhD

Chief Technology Officer and
Co-Founder

David leads technology innovation at Bolt, creating and incubating biomaterials for improved consumer products. His obsession with biomaterials began with graduate research on silk during his Bioengineering Ph.D. at UC Berkeley and UCSF. David has an orange belt in Krav Maga and is a great admirer of stencil graffiti.

Cintia Nardi

Chief Operating Officer

Cintia brings extensive experience of over 25 years at Unilever, Estee Lauder, and Cosmetica. She has worked in many multi-disciplinary areas, such as Operations, Global Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales & Marketing, and Product Development. She believes in the power of people to enable sustainable change and she builds powerful high-performance teams with an intrinsic cross-functional base while focusing on the customer’s needs and the vision of the company. Cintia's responsibility is to achieve functional readiness and operational excellence. She is committed to delighting our customers with outstanding service, quality, and sustainable innovation that is based on strong partnerships and a personal commitment to Bolt's vision.

Kiera Ganann

Chief Commercial Officer

Kiera Ganann serves as the Chief Commercial Officer at Bolt Threads, where she is responsible for the global commercial strategy for Mylo. She has over 25 years of experience working in merchandising and sales for global retail companies including leadership positions at Levi Strauss & Co and at Ralph Lauren. She is also on the Board of Governors for the Fashion Scholarship Fund, a non-profit organization focused on supporting the industry with the next generation of designers, merchants, business leaders, and creatives.

Sue Levin

Chief Marketing Officer/GM of Beauty and Personal Care

Sue oversees our marketing strategy and deep brand storytelling for our technologies, framing our work at Bolt in a broader context and translating scientific research to consumer needs. She also heads up Bolt's beauty and personal care business. She started her career in journalism before moving to Nike, where she was Global Director of Women’s Sports Marketing, and later US Women’s Brand Director. Sue left Nike to co-found lucy, a pioneering women’s activewear brand. As CEO, she led lucy through a successful transition from dot-com to multi-channel retailer. Sue brings to Bolt a deep understanding of the consumer landscape and need for industry evolution. Before you challenge her to a friendly game of frisbee, be warned that she was an ultimate frisbee national champion.

Randy Befumo

Chief Financial Officer

Randy oversees Bolt’s finance function, using his creative analysis of details to forecast, finance, and determine strategy for the business. He brings over 20 years of experience in finance and investment, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Eventbrite where he helped to guide the company through a successful IPO. Prior to that, Randy served as Director of Research, analyst, and portfolio manager at Legg Mason Capital Management for 15 years. He lives in Larkspur, California with his wife, two kids, two cats, and one dog, plus the occasional visit from a clever family of raccoons.

Jamie Bainbridge

Chief Product Officer

Jamie engages the best minds in the textile industry to tackle every aspect of material and textile development. Before joining Bolt Threads in 2016, her past experiences included Research and Development and Innovation work at both Nike and Patagonia, and serving as Director of Product, Textiles and Sustainability for Nau Clothing, a brand focused on sustainable textiles and manufacturing practices. In her role at Bolt, Jamie oversees the creation of Mylo and is responsible for its high quality, softness and drape, and ability to take on any color or emboss. She works closely with Bolt’s partners including adidas, Kering, lululemon, and Stella McCartney to ensure Mylo can be used in their products just like animal or synthetic leather, but with a fraction of the environmental impact. Jamie served as the Chair of the Advisory Council for the Outdoor Industry Association Sustainability Working Group.
